Community Jam Term & Conditions

Entry conditions:

Participation in this Community Jam/hackathon is open to individuals age 18 or older. You do not have to be a designer or work in tech to join! We welcome diverse backgrounds/experiences and believe these contribute to valuable, unique insights.

Part of the first day will be spent getting to know each other. You are welcome to bring friends to partner with, but many people will be joining solo, so we will be supporting team-forming efforts early on. Once you register on Eventbrite, you can also join the Slack workspace for the event beforehand and post there to find potential teammates.

Submissions will be rated on the following criteria:

1. How effective is the solution in addressing the problem put forth by the Community Jam/Hackathon?

2. How well does the solution address the team's proposed problem statement?

3. How impactful is the solution idea?

4. How feasible is the solution idea?

5. How user-friendly is the solution?

6. How clearly has the solution been presented/communicated by the team?

Please score the team's work by answering these questions on a scale of 1-10, (1 = not at all, 10 = extremely well).

CODE OF CONDUCT:

By participating in the Community Jam, you agree to abide by the following Code of Conduct:

Please treat your fellow participants with respect. We ask that you be kind, interact professionally, and engage in ways that are supportive and constructive. Let’s build each other up, not down! Harassment and racist, sexist, or exclusionary jokes are not acceptable. If at any point you see anyone being harassed, please reach out to an event organizer.

Similarly, please extend the respect to our judges and those supporting the event. A great deal of effort goes into this event, made possible by all involved (this means you, too!). We encourage conversations all around, so feel free to introduce yourself and say hello. We’re here for you!

TL;DR

1. Be excellent to each other.

2. Speak up if you see or hear uncomfortable or harassing behavior.

3. Harassment is not tolerated.

Failure to comply with the above-stated Code of Conduct may result in the offending team's disqualification.

Intellectual Property:

The work created by the teams during the Community Jam/hackathon event will be of their own property. The work will be open sourced to the public. If you think your work has proprietary concepts/ideas, please do not publish them. The general IP license used by the event will follow the MIT license policy (click here for details).
